Dream Theater have become well known for their superb technical ability and intense live performances.The band were originally called Majesty before settling with Dream Theater. Vocalist Charlie Dominici, and keyboard player Kevin Moore completed the original line up which released Dream Theater`s debut album When Dream And Day Unite in1989.</div> <div> Charlie Dominic departed and the band recruited Canadian vocalist James LaBrie (ex Winter Rose). James first appeared on 1992`s excellent Images And Words album, and has been a key member of the band since. Keyboard player Derek Sherinian (previously appeared on several Alice Cooper and Kiss albums) replaced Kevin Moore to debut on 1995`s A Change Of Seasons. Current keyboard player Jordan Rudess (ex Dixie Dregs) first appeared on 1999`s outstanding Scenes From A Memory album, after Derek had left to form his own band Planet X. New album Octavarium is the New Yorkers 9th studio album. The band are accomplished musicians who pour enthusiasm as well as technical prowess into their music. Octavarium remains as intense as previous albums, and while not to every rock fans taste it`s hard not to be impressed by the sheer ability of this band. Very much an album band Dream Theater rarely bother to release singles and with songs like the title track in excess of 20 minutes it`s highly unlikely you will ever see them on Top Of The Pops.
